Staff Profile - Dave Lowndes

Dave Lowndes favourite thing about working at Hill Laboratories is the common desire shared by staff across the business to always improve the quality of their products and services – ‘balancing a desire for performance with a caring attitude to all staff and their wellbeing’.
Dave originally connected with the team at Hill Labs during his time running a digital agency. He found himself working with Hill over several years, supporting with projects such as the mobile app and other services. It’s clear he did something right, because eventually that relationship led to Dave coming on board in January 2019 as the Software Development Manager – which sees him managing the IT Customer Experience team.
‘The opportunity to learn new technologies and architecture is ever-present in IT, making it an ideal place for those who like to learn and satisfy their thirst for knowledge!’
That thirst for continued learning and knowledge has ensured Dave’s success during his two years with Hill Labs. It’s particularly evident in the way he manages his team, something Dave sees as a career highlight.
‘Management of the Informatics team has provided me with an opportunity to dive into the world of big data, business intelligence and machine learning. This was an area I was always interested in, and now have hands on development experience with’!
Dave encourages his team to have this same passion for knowledge. A vital aspect of his role sees him regularly facilitating discussions and questioning his team to support them with their career growth and ensuring they’re able to establish the best outcomes.
When Dave’s not keeping himself busy at work, you will find him enjoying nature and the outdoors – either out in the garden or hiking and biking with his wife. It’s been said Dave is also an accomplished muso… so you might also catch him playing a few tunes on the guitar.
