Staff Profile – Carla Johnstone

Carla Johnstone has called New Zealand home for a little over six years. She heard through the grapevine that Hill Laboratories was a great place to work, so she applied from Australia and found herself making the move across the ditch to join her now-husband in his hometown of Hamilton.

The rest, as they say, is history.

During her six years with Hill Labs, Carla has been a vital part of the team, bringing her positive and cheerful nature to a variety of roles within different sectors. Recently she stepped into her current position in the Environmental Client Services team.

After a number of years travelling the world, Carla has fallen in love with New Zealand’s stunning landscapes. Her strong interest in the world around her, and love of the outdoors is clearly displayed in her passion for the environmental sector.

‘I really enjoy working with and assisting people who work in the beautiful New Zealand outdoors – from farmers to councils and everything in between’.

On a typical day at work, you will find Carla helping clients with all their testing needs – supporting them throughout the entire process, from supplying testing containers to providing them with the final result.

Bringing a wealth of operational knowledge to the position ensures Carla has a strong understanding of the laboratory’s capabilities, as well as the details of many areas of environmental testing.

Out of office hours you will likely find Carla with her husband and daughter enjoying some of New Zealand’s lovely green spaces, preferably with a mountain in view. Three years of living in Canada has given her a love of the mountains and a passion for all things snow!
