Early harvest impact on residues levels

Viticulturists across New Zealand have enjoyed a very good season in 2019, with the climate permitting a high quality harvest throughout the country and a particularly early harvest for the Marlborough region.
An early harvest for some vineyards also meant challenges, with some vineyards having to pick within spray withholding periods and prove that residue levels in the grapes were at acceptable levels upon picking. We received a larger number of samples requiring urgent residues testing during the harvest than ever before.
With the wine making process for this season now underway, it’s time to start thinking about potential impacts of the early harvest on residue levels in juice or finished product. A pesticide residue test can give you peace of mind that your wines are safe to drink and fit for export.
