Background

R J Hill Laboratories Ltd is New Zealand’s leading privately owned laboratory established in 1984 by Roger and Anne Hill.  Since then it has grown into the largest independent analytical laboratory in New Zealand.  It supplies testing to a large and diverse range of clients – everyone from internationally recognised global corporations to private individuals - from across New Zealand to all around the world.   The laboratories adhere to the strictest quality assurance programmes and are accredited under the IANZ accreditation system.   With premises positioned in the North and South Islands of New Zealand it  employs over 280 people with a passion for science and technology. 

Offering

Hill Laboratories has one of the largest range of tests on offer in New Zealand.  It has the capability to test a vast array of samples with one of  the most comprehensive testing offerings.  The laboratory prides itself on its ability to quickly develop a method for a new form of testing that is often in urgent demand from its customers.  The organisation is broadly divided into 3 main divisions; Agricultural, Environmental and Food and Bioanalytical, which reflect the main testing groups on offer.  Click here for more detail about its testing.

Staff

Hill Laboratories employs around 280 staff with one of the largest concentrations of pHD’s of any commercial organisation.  Click here for profiles of our leadership team and other staff.  Its laboratories are located in five different locations, four of these laboratories are located around the city of Hamilton and one is in Christchurch. The organisation also have an office located in Japan and mainland China.

Health & Safety and the Environment

Hill Laboratories has an outstanding Health & Safety record despite a potentially hazardous working environment.  The focus has broadened in recent years from the health of its staff to include that of the environment around us.  As a result they have recently attained an Enviro-Mark Diamond status in recognition of the progress made in this area.
