Occupational health and safety
Overview of OS&H sample testing at R J Hill Laboratories.
About this testing
Monitoring of the air quality in the workplace is a useful technique for ensuring a healthy and safe environment for employees. Samples may be collected using tubes, badges, filters or impingers.
We provide high quality fit for purpose results utilising up to date technology and robust analytical processes.
We routinely analyse samples for a wide variety of organic and inorganic air contaminants.
Our laboratory analyses sample tubes, badges, filters and impinger solutions for a wide range of compounds of interest in OS&H monitoring. Examples are metals (eg lead, mercury), hydrocarbon solvents, benzene (eg petrol station attendant monitoring), alcohols, ketones, chlorinated solvents, formaldehyde, etc.
Scans using GC-MS and library search reporting (LSR) from the NIST 150,000 compound library. A useful technique if it is not known what may be present.
Most metals can be analysed, including mercury, lead, arsenic, cadmium, etc.
Analysis of acid gases from hydrochloric, hydrofluoric, phosphoric, nitric or sulphuric acids by ion chromatography.
