Analytica merger

Hill Laboratories recently announced its merger with the Hamilton based high-end laboratory Analytica. While small in size, Analytica was big on capability, which was a significant motivation for the merger to take place. As a result Hill Laboratories secures its position as NZ's leading analytical testing laboratory for many years to come.

The principal analysts in Analytica will be well known to long standing customers of Hill Laboratories. Terry Cooney was a part of our company for many years, and at the time he left in 2007 was the leader of our Environmental Division. Terry Braggins was also a part of the company until he moved on in 2008, and was leading our Food & Bioanalytical Division at the time.

Terry Cooney has taken up the new role of Technical Manager in Hill Laboratories. He will be using his huge technical experience to help us provide solutions to our customers by implementing new technology, developing new methods, and improving existing methods. We have a large investment in technical staff, and Terry will lead and mentor them. As a company whose core business is analytical testing, it is great to have Terry back to drive this important part of our business.

With the merger, Hill Laboratories has acquired the purpose built Analytica facility in Hamilton. Terry Braggins is remaining there as its manager, and is actively investigating new business opportunities in NZ and offshore on our behalf. While not fully utilized at the moment, the new laboratory is intended to provide space for growth into new testing services for new customers.

The four laboratory staff who worked for Analytica have also taken up positions across our company. The testing equipment owned by
Analytica (including a new Agilent GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS, and ICPMS) is being carefully distributed around Hill Laboratories to back up existing operations, while providing capacity for R&D and growth. With this merger, our company is better positioned than ever to lead in the provision of analytical testing services in NZ, and to extend our reach to more customers globally.
